2nd Global SIDS Conference – 2 to 4 August 2016
Mauritius will be hosting the 2nd Global Conference on Anti-Corruption Reform in Small Island States from 2 to 4 August 2016 at Intercontinental Hotel, Balaclava.
The proposed theme for this year is “Prevention of Corruption in the Public Procurement Process”, highly relevant in the Mauritian context as public procurement is a high risk area and a fertile ground for corruption.
The main objectives of the conference are inter-alia, to help:
(i) identify strengths and weaknesses in the public procurement process;
(ii) disseminate international best practices being adopted in public procurement; and
(ii) towards the setting up of a dedicated platform for anti-corruption reform for Small Island Developing States, in Mauritius.
Heads of agencies and other senior anti-corruption officials from some 20 small islands will participate in the conference.
