National Code for Corporate Governance (2016)

The National Code for Corporate Governance (2016) which aims at advancing corporategovernance reforms in both public and private sectors in Mauritius by creating a corporate governance framework of principles for business leaders to apply, became effective as from July 2017. With a view to sensitising and building capacity of institutions for a more effective compliance with the provisions of the Code and also to a​ddress governance issues which are regularly raised in the Director of Audit’s report, the Ministry organised a Workshop on National Code of Corporate Governance for Mauritius. Youth Leadership Training Programme

2nd round ESAAMLG 5th - 16th June 2017

Mauritius is a member of the Eastern and Southern African Anti Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG) since 1999. As such, it endorsed the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and committed itself to implement these recommendations to combat money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF).​   Mauritius is at present undergoing the 2nd round of mutual evaluation of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regime, based on the 2012 FATF Recommendations and its 2013 Methodology. SIDS Conference

2nd Global SIDS Conference – 2 to 4 August 2016 Mauritius will be hosting the 2nd Global Conference on Anti-Corruption Reform in Small Island States from 2 to 4 August 2016 at Intercontinental Hotel, Balaclava.  The proposed theme for this year is “Prevention of Corruption in the Public Procurement Process”, highly relevant in the Mauritian context as public procurement is a high risk area and a fertile ground for corruption.
