Economic Planning

The functions of the Economic Planning are to:

o          Develop long-term vision, plans and strategies to position Mauritius as a forward-thinking nation

o          Ensure national policy coordination

o          Guide evidence-based policy formulation through economic and social analysis

o          Foster economic growth and prosperity

o          Drive national consultations to support collective choices on social, economic and environmental issues

The Ministry has embarked on the formulation of Vision 2050 alongside a 10-Year National Development Plan (NDP).  The Vision 2050 will provide an overarching strategic framework, outlining the long-term goals and priorities for Mauritius while the 10-Year Plan will serve as a roadmap for implementation, breaking down key objectives into actionable strategies.

A National Planning Framework is being set up to provide the necessary coordination mechanism to formulate the Vision and Development Plan by ensuring that all sectors and stakeholders are aligned to achieve long-term sustainable development.
